COSMIC-2024: IEEE International conference at Sahyadri

Kickstart for COSMIC-2024, IEEE International Conference on Computing, Semiconductor, Mechatronics, Intelligent Systems, and Communications

Sahyadri is organizing the 2024 IEEE International Conference on Computing, Semiconductor, Mechatronics, Intelligent Systems, and Communications (COSMIC - 2024) on November 22-23, 2024.

As an international conference, COSMIC - 2024 aims to attract individuals working in diverse fields such as Computing, Semiconductors, Mechatronics, Intelligent Systems, and Communications. The conference is designed to create a platform for researchers from academia and industry, practicing engineers, and students. It will feature a series of keynote presentations, technical paper sessions, and poster presentations to foster the vigorous exchange of research findings and ideas among participants. All accepted and presented papers will be submitted for possible publication in the IEEE Xplore® Digital Library (Conference Record #63293), through the IEEE Conference Publications Program (CPP).

In this context, the conference logo, website, and posters were launched to kickstart the publicity process. The event was witnessed by the Principal and General Chair of the conference, Dr. S S Injaganeri; Director-R&D and one of the patrons of the conference, Dr. Manjappa Sarathi; HOD-CSE and organizing Chair of the conference, Dr. Mustafa Basthikodi; HOD-ISE and Co-organizing Chair of the conference, Dr. Rithesh Pakkala P; HOD-CSE (AI & ML), Dr. Pushpalatha K; HOD-ECE, Dr. Anush Bekal; HOD- ME&RA, Dr. Rathishchandra Gatti, along with Associate Deans, Assistant Deans, and senior faculty members.

ISE Faculty and student team Presented a Paper at International Conference hosted by CRC Press, Taylor & Francis Group

Prof. Harinakshi C, Dept. of Information Science & Engineering, along with final year Information Science & Engineering students Vageesh, Ananya Shetty, Sapna Acharya, Vigneesh presented a paper titled ‘River Water Principle Component Analysis’ at the International conference on sustainable Materials, Structures and IoT (SMSI-2024) on July 6th -7th, 2024. This paper, originated from their final year project, RIWAPAC (River Water Principle Analysis of the Component) is a smart system designed to efficiently monitor water quality at a lower cost. It brings together different sensors and a communication method called Long Range (LoRa) into a single setup. This system keeps an eye on key water quality factors like dissolved solids, electrical conductivity, temperature, and pH, all while knowing where it is in real-time. The hardware in ‘RIWAPAC’ is carefully designed to give accurate data and not use too much power, with plans for future testing in various environments to ensure its effectiveness and cost efficiency. The paper will be published by CRC Press, Taylor & Francis Group, and indexed in Scopus.

Dept. of CSE organized a session on ‘Incubation Opportunities for Early-Stage Entrepreneurs’

Dept. of Computer Science and Engineering organized an insightful session on "Incubation Opportunities for Early-Stage Entrepreneurs’. The event featured Mr. Johnson Tellis, Chief Executive Officer, Sahyadri as the resource person. Mr. Johnson Tellis has a background in strategic planning and organizational structuring and made significant contributions to the start-up ecosystem. He is also the co-founder and CEO of Inunity, an advisory panel member of the Karnataka Digital Economy Mission (KDEM); Director of the Sahyadri Hub for Innovations and Entrepreneurship as well. His passion for empowering youth through community-centric education and promoting social innovations is truly inspiring.

The event was guided by Dr. Mustafa Basthikodi, Professor and Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. Prof. Srividya S, Prof. Aparna Krishnan and Prof. Ashwini C S, Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering coordinated the event.

Key highlights of the event included:

• Discussions on creating a value-added resume.

• How to improve Character skills and Technical Skills

• Encouraged to participate in Hackathon for better placement

• Minimum funding requirement for start-up.

• Preparation for product and service-based company

The session was attended by third-year Computer Science and Cyber Security students, with over 250 students participating in it.

Dean Placements and Training attended Recruitment and iAspire series Accenture meet

Prof. Rashmi Bhandary participated in the prestigious Accenture TPO Hub Meet 2024, held in Bengaluru on July 22, 2024. This distinguished gathering provided an in-depth exploration of Accenture’s strategic approach to recruiting the 2025 batch, as well as the transformative benefits of the iAspire series.

The event not only illuminated key recruitment trends but also offered a premier platform for networking, fostering invaluable connections with industry leaders and enhancing preparedness for future placement opportunities.
