Placements and Training: Sahyadrians Recruited by SafeSend

A total of three students from the 2025 outgoing batch have been recruited by SafeSend for the position of Graduate Engineer Trainee, with a salary package of INR 6 LPA. The selected students are M.M. Nandesh and Vinola Quadras from the Computer Science Department, and Raksha from the Information Science Department.

Day Two of Induction for MBA Batch 2024

On the Day 2 of the induction program, the first half of the morning session was led by Dr. Malini N Hebbar, Principal at Swastika National Business School, who facilitated a session on Communication Skills. Dr. Hebbar engaged the students with her comprehensive presentation, covering key aspects such as the Four Ps of Vocal Variety and the Three Vs of Communication. She also conducted an engaging activity on Chronemic emphasizing the importance of effective communication in both personal and professional life. The session was highly interactive and provided students with practical insights, making it a truly enriching experience.
The second half of the day featured a session on Personality Development and Grooming by Mr. Karthik Alva, Founder of Thrust Academy. He highlighted essential aspects of personality development, including grooming, voice modulation, and impactful content delivery. Mr. Alva inspired students to overcome their fears and stressed the importance of effectively using the five senses. Through interactive activities on seizing opportunities, he encouraged students to embrace practices such as shaking hands, greeting others warmly, and fostering meaningful interactions. He concluded the session with a motivational message, urging students to dedicate at least 30 minutes daily to self-improvement, emphasizing humility and adaptability as keys to future success.

In the afternoon session, Mr. Louis Manoj, Assistant Professor at Government First Grade College, Car Street, Mangalore, conducted an engaging session on Team Building. He began by discussing the prerequisites for a successful life, emphasizing the importance of unity and collaboration. To foster stronger connections among students, he took the session outdoors, where he facilitated interactive activities designed to help participants get to know one another and build bonds. These activities kept the students actively engaged and created a vibrant atmosphere of bond and teamwork.

Research Article of Vice Principal Published in SCOPUS Indexed Book Series by Springer

The research article titled “Predictive Analytics for Diagnosing Alzheimer’s Disease Using Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Algorithms” has been published in Communications in Computer and Information Science (CCIS, Volume 2231), a Scopus-indexed book series by Springer. The article is co-authored by Dr. Sudheer Shetty, Vice Principal & Professor in

the Department of ISE. It explores the pivotal role of predictive analytics in healthcare, emphasizing the early detection of Alzheimer's disease. As a progressive neurological disorder affecting a significant portion of the elderly population, early diagnosis is essential for improving patient outcomes and enabling effective, targeted interventions. This article was also honored with the Best Paper Award at the International Conference on Intelligent Systems in Computing and Communication (ISCComm) 2023, held at the Mangalore Institute of Technology & Engineering in Moodbidri, India, on December 8–9, 2023.

Research Article of ISE Faculty Members Published in SCOPUS Indexed IEEE Xplore Digital Library

A Research Article titled “Optimizing Botnet Detection in IoT Networks: Feature Selection Analysis on the UNSW-NB15 Dataset” authored by Prof. Suchetha G, and Dr. Pushpalatha K, Professor & HOD CSE (AIML) has been published in IEEE Xplore Digital Library and is indexed in SCOPUS.

The study introduces a GRU-based deep learning model combined with the SelectKBest feature selection method for effective botnet detection in IoT environments. It highlights the model's ability to process sequential data efficiently and reduce dimensionality, making it suitable for real-time cybersecurity applications. The research aims to enhance intrusion detection systems, addressing challenges in scalability and computational efficiency.

ECE faculty completes Pre-submission Colloquium on Leukemia Detection and Classification

Prof. Roopashree Nayak, Research Scholar in the Dept. of Electronics & Communication Engineering, successfully conducted her Pre-submission Colloquium on the research topic:
"Development of a Computer-Aided Decision Support System for Detection and Classification of Leukemia."

The research focuses on leveraging computational tools and advanced algorithms to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of leukemia diagnosis. This work aims to contribute significantly to the field of healthcare technology.

The presentation was well-received, and the evaluators commended Prof. Roopashree Nayak for her efforts and dedication. This successful colloquium marks a critical milestone in her Ph.D. journey under the guidance of Dr. AnushBekal.
