Research paper of ECE students accepted for ICEI 2024

The research paper titled "A High Gain Two-Stage Telescopic OTA Operating at 1.5V Power Supply in 180nm CMOS Technology" has been accepted for presentation and publication at the IEEE Conference on Engineering Informatics (ICEI 2024), hosted by Indian Institute of Technology, Dharwad, India (IIT Dharwad) and scheduled to be held at Karnataka Lingayat Education Technological University (KLETU), Hubli, on November 27, 2024. This prestigious conference follows its international edition at Swinburne University of Technology, Australia, which will showcase cutting-edge research on November 20-21, 2024.
The paper was authored by seventh-semester students Sayyad Arif, Pranam Shetty, Ankitha and Divyanidhi Rai under the guidance of Prof. Kripa from the Dept. of Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE).
The paper focuses on advancements in analog and mixed-signal circuits, specifically operational transconductance amplifiers (OTAs), which play a crucial role in such systems. The telescopic OTA is preferred for its high gain and speed. This study uses the Cadence Virtuoso EDA tool to explore design techniques to improve OTA gain and stability while maintaining power efficiency. This work will be published in IEEE Xplore and indexed in Scopus, ensuring global visibility.

Aarohan’24: ISE and CSE (Data Science) Department Celebrate Association Day

Dept. of Information Science & Engineering (ISE) and CSE (Data Science) in association with Student Association - mInDS (muster of Information and Data Science) organized the Branch Entry for the III semester students of (ISE) as a part of AAROHAN’24 (Association Day) on 29th November 2024.
The function was graced by the presence of the chief guest Mrs. Rajani Damodhar Shetty, an Animal Welfare Activist, and alumni guest, Deepika B R, Senior Automation Engineer at Ribbon Communications, along with Principal Dr. S S Injaganeri; Vice-Principal, Dr. Sudheer Shetty; Dr. Rithesh Pakkala P - HOD of ISE and CSE (Data Science); Prof. Akhila Thejaswi R - mInDS Association Faculty Coordinator, HoDs of various departments, teaching and non-teaching staff. The function was inaugurated by a lamp-lighting ceremony by the dignitaries present on the dais.

Dr. Rithesh Pakkala P, HoD, ISE, and CSE (Data Science) installed the elected students of the ISE and CSE (Data Science). He briefed the office bearers on their duty to preside at meetings, abide by the department's bylaws, and function in every respect as the department's office bearers for the year 2024-25, and then facilitated the badging and oath-taking ceremony of the council.
Then the chief guest, Mrs. Rajani Damodhar Shetty, delivered an inspiring speech, emphasizing the importance of helping those in need and showing compassion toward animals. She highlighted that “marks are not the only measure of success; true education comes from experiences and learning gained from people and real-life situations”. She described how she rescues and feeds animals daily. The alumni guest, Deepika B R, reminisced about her days at Sahyadri and shared her experiences from her professional journey.
Principal then motivated the students and expressed his gratitude for inviting guests like Mrs. Rajani Damodhar Shetty, who served as a source of inspiration for the students.
The second half of the day was a showcase of the very best of the young talent in a fun and frolic way. Class-wise variety performances kicked off and the day ended with music and fun.

Vice-Principal published a Research Article in the SCOPUS Indexed Book Series by Springer

The research article titled “Fire Detection System Using Deep CNN” has been published in Communications in Computer and Information Science (CCIS, Volume 2231), a Scopus-indexed book series by Springer. The article is co-authored by Dr. Sudheer Shetty, Vice Principal and Professor in the Department of ISE. Early fire detection is crucial for timely response and with the advent of convolutional neural networks (CNNs), fire alarm systems have become more reliable and advanced.Unlike traditional methods that detect by-products of fire like smoke, temperature, and flame -

which take time to trigger sensors - the proposed system uses CNNs to offer faster, more accurate detection. This deep learning-based approach is fine-tuned for efficiency and accuracy, specifically tailored to fire data, with its effectiveness demonstrated through experimental results on benchmark fire datasets.

Associate Dean (R&D) Registers International Design Patent in the UK

Dr. Navaneeth Bhaskar, Associate Dean (R&D) and Associate Professor in the Department of ECE, has registered a UK Design Patent for his innovative design titled "Coaxial Vectoring Tricopter with Stewart Platform". This design combines a tricopter configuration with a Stewart platform mechanism, enhancing manoeuvrability, stability, and precision control, making it ideal for applications such as surveillance, delivery systems, and industrial inspections. The design, granted by the UK Patent Office under registration number 6396458, features a unique combination of coaxial rotors for
