Placements and Training: Recruited by Surya Digital

Two students - Nithin N from the AIML Department and Suhas Rao from the CSE Department, have been recruited by Surya Digital for the position of Software Development Engineer, with a CTC of INR 7.14 LPA.

Sahyadri Open Source Community (SOSC) is a vibrant community of tech enthusiasts dedicated to spreading knowledge and fostering collaboration among young minds. Our mission is to integrate students into the open-source ecosystem through training and skill development while creating an inclusive space for individuals from diverse backgrounds to innovate and grow together. We foster innovation through diverse technical events, from major gatherings such as EnvisionX, Hacknight, Codeblaze and DevHost. Along with these we also host talks by respected professionals from major tech companies, including Google, Microsoft, TCS and many more which attracted over 1000+ students to get into tech.

Associate Dean (R&D) Granted Indian Utility Patent for Innovative Automatic Volume Control System

Dr. Navaneeth Bhaskar, Associate Dean (R&D) and Associate Professor in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, has been granted an Indian Utility Patent for his innovative invention titled "Automatic Volume Control for Unwanted Increase of Sound." This system provides an automated solution to tackle sudden

volume spikes during commercial advertisements on televisions and audio systems. By adjusting the volume to counter unwanted amplitude variations, the invention ensures a consistent audio experience, enhancing user comfort and making television viewing more enjoyable.

The patent, officially granted on October 7, 2024, with the application number 201921022399 and grant number 551997, was submitted in 2019. The patent has been granted for a term of 20 years in accordance with the provisions of the Patents Act, 1970, marking a significant achievement in audio technology. Dr. Navaneeth Bhaskar's co-inventors are Dr. V K Bairagi, Dr. Arati Jeevan, and Dr. Amar Buchade. This innovative technology offers a practical solution for countless users affected by fluctuating sound levels during TV broadcasts and advertisements, filling a gap in current audio systems.

Faculty Invited as resource person on IEEE Day celebration at MITE, Mangalore

Dr. Gurusiddayya Hiremath, SAC Chair IEEE Mangalore invited as resource person on IEEE Day 2024 celebration at Mangalore Institute of Engineering & Technology on 10th October 2024. During the talk Dr. Hiremath shared the future path for students by joining as professional and student Members. His talk was mainly on IEEE and it's benefits to students and professional members.
