Placement and Training: Placed in Novel Office

Harshitha Kini, M Aneesh and Pratham R Shetty from the Department of Computer Science have been placed in Novel Office for the role of full-stack developer and AI Engineer.

ECE Students Participate at the OpenAI Academy × NxtWave State-Level Buildathon, Bengaluru 2025

Six 3rd-semester students - Sheethal R Bangera, Srujan Kulal, Shama A, Sushanth, Suvith Rai and Pooja – and two fifth-semester students - Vinayak Chandavar and Sumukha Nadiger of the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE) participated in the Karnataka State-Level Round of the OpenAI Academy × NxtWave Buildathon, held at S-Vyasa Deemed to be University, Sattva Global City Campus.
This intense 48-hour buildathon challenged young innovators to ideate, prototype, and present AI-powered solutions addressing real-world needs — and the students rose to the occasion with remarkable dedication and teamwork.
The 3rd-semester students’ project, a Career & Skill-Mapping Platform, is an AI-driven guidance tool designed to empower students early in their academic journey by helping them make informed career decisions.
The 5th-semester students worked on a hybrid plastic waste segregation system integrating both software intelligence and hardware mechanisms to identify and classify plastic waste efficiently — promoting sustainability through smart automation.
This participation gave the students exposure to competitive AI problem-solving, large-scale collaboration, and industry-aligned innovation — an invaluable step in their engineering journey.

CSE Research Paper Presented at AIHC 2025, National Institute of Technology Calicut

The research paper titled “Quantum Machine Learning for Multimodal Depression Detection using QSVM and QNN,” authored by the students of the Department of Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) Shreya R. H., Saakshi R. Alva, K. Diya Rai, and Tony Philip under the guidance of Ms. Prapulla G. and Dr. Mustafa Basthikodi, was successfully presented on 10th December 2025 at the International Conference on Artificial Intelligence for Healthcare (AIHC 2025).
The conference was held from 10th to 12th December 2025 at the National Institute of Technology Calicut, Kerala, India. The accepted and presented papers of the conference are published as proceedings with Springer in their prestigious Lecture Notes in Electrical Engineering (LNEE) series.

As an ICC member, the MBA Faculty facilitated a POSH Awareness Program for HydGen employees housed at Sahyadri

Dr. Sushma V, Associate Professor, Department of Business Administration, facilitated the POSH Awareness Program for HydGen employees housed at Sahyadri on 18th Dec 2025. She is an ICC member of HydGen as per the POSH Act for a period of 3 years. Sushma is an ICC member of GAIL India, Mangalore as well. The session aimed to create awareness on maintaining a safe, respectful, and inclusive workplace, while familiarizing employees with their rights and responsibilities under the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013.
The program covered key aspects of the POSH Act, including the definition of sexual harassment, preventive measures, reporting mechanisms, and the role of the Internal Committee. As mandated by the Act, organizations with more than ten employees are required to conduct periodic POSH awareness programs, and this session served as part of HydGen’s annual compliance and commitment to workplace ethics and gender sensitization. Mr. Chaswin Tauro, Head-HR coordinated the program. More than 30 employees, both physically and virtually, were present for the program.

Dr Prabhu interacts with the judges from Burma, Myanmar

Dr. Ananth Prabhu G, Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering and Principal Investigator at the Digital Forensics and Cyber Security Centre of Excellence was invited by the National Judicial Academy, Bhopal to interact with 45 Judges from Burma, Myanmar.
The session explored the fast-evolving landscape of digital threats and the urgent need for capacity building among judicial officers who increasingly encounter cyber-enabled crimes in their courtrooms. Discussions revolved around emerging challenges such as cross-border digital evidence, the complexities of attribution in cyber incidents, darknet-facilitated offences, cryptocurrency-linked financial crimes, and the surge in AI-driven frauds that demand sharper legal interpretation and deeper technological insight. The judges engaged in thoughtful deliberations on how courts can adapt to these technological shifts while ensuring procedural fairness, evidentiary robustness, and due process.
The interaction also highlighted best practices followed globally in handling digital forensics, chain of custody preservation, and international cooperation frameworks that can support Burma’s judicial ecosystem. Practical case studies were examined to illustrate how digital footprints, metadata, and behavioural analytics can empower courts to arrive at more informed decisions. The dialogue reinforced the growing importance of judicial awareness in safeguarding citizens against sophisticated online harms while balancing privacy, security, and constitutional rights.
