Mr. Rajeev visited Sahyadri and interacted with the MBA students on “Indian Economy”. He walked the students through a graphical presentation on the Historic perspective of World GDP and also the place that India holds in GDP. He stressed on how India’s wealth was exploited in the past and other countries moved ahead due to industrialization. Under British rule our economy shrunk since they did not promote industrialization. He appreciated the words of Sir M Visvesvaraya which emphasised on “Industrialize or Perish”. Looking at the current statistics on GDP in India, he expressed his happiness in forecasting that India will be the third largest economy by 2040 and also said that India will be the fifth largest consumer market by 2025. He added – While rest of the world is ageing, India has a huge young population.

Students were encouraged to ask questions not only on matters related to Indian Economy but on anything that they wanted heads-up on. It was a great opportunity for the students to be directly interacting with such an eminent personality with vast experience in almost all spheres that contribute to the nation’s growth.
