 Swachh Bharat Summer Internship Programme

Following the Prime Minister's clarion call on 2nd October 2014 for each individual to devote at least 100 hours to Swachhata through the year, the Ministry of Human Resource Development in association with the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation has launched the 'Swachh Bharat Summer Internship – 100 Hours of Swachhata' for college students and NSS volunteers.

The program aims to:
• Develop the skill and orientation of youth for sanitation related work
• Give youth across the country an opportunity to make a significant contribution to the swachhata revolution
• Integrate youth in the community service in rural areas in the run up to the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
The NSS Unit of Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management in association with Ramakrishna Mission, Mangaluru, initiated the programme at Pavoor Government School.

A group of 7 students led by Mr. Kiran Kedilaya from Sahyadri have visited Pavoor Government School under the guidance of Mr. Naveen Pilar to conduct activities pertaining to this programme. Events like Movie Presentation, Talks on Prevention of Diseases, “Best out of Waste” and Competitions like Quiz and Drawing were conducted on the Swachh Bharat Theme. The school children interacted very enthusiastically and gained a lot of exposure.
