Orientation workshop for Third Semester Electronics & Communication Engineering

Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering organized a Three-Day orientation workshop for third semester ECE students. An overview of the department, areas of expertise of faculty members, application of electronics in real world and the purpose of verticals were conveyed to the students by Dr. Ashwath Rao, Head of the Department. The students were given a wider perspective of different technologies in electronics field. Emphasis was also given on the necessity to learn concepts other than regular curriculum, facilitated through specialized labs made available in the institution. This would benefit students in procuring lucrative jobs. Each vertical heads along with the team members delivered the scope and relevance of the subjects and introduced the labs related to their verticals which the students will be utilizing over the next three years. The Embedded and Sensor System vertical group provided the students an exposure on embedded systems and its application in various fields of real world. The members shared imperative information, eye-opening facts and opportunities that lay ahead of them for the purpose of knowledge both in terms of theory and practice (projects) in the field of embedded system and sensors. In the workshop by Communication and Control system vertical, students were exposed to basic knowledge about communication system, transmission line, antennas for different applications, ways of securing the information during transmission, advantages of digital systems and real time applications of control systems. The VLSI and Nano Science vertical group gave an introduction to VLSI and cryptography which focused more on VLSI Design flow. An introduction to digital circuits and its scope in VLSI design along with Back end design flow of analog circuits was presented. Finally, the vertical concluded with applications, job and research opportunities in VLSI and allied areas. The signal processing vertical gave a glimpse of different subjects using videos and presentation. The significance of machine learning, analog & digital signals, Digital Image processing and Matlab were also explained.
