M.Tech Civil Engineering Students ranked third in model making at IIT, Bombay

and Mr. Sudharma V S Acharya, students of fourth semester M.Tech Civil
Engineering (Structural Engineering and CADS) participated in 'AAKAAR
2017', India’s largest Civil Engineering Technical Fest held at IIT,
Bombay. They ranked third out of 70 teams who had participated in the
event named "Seismic", which presented a challenge in which the team had
to design efficient and sustainable earthquake resistant structure. The
students were given a task wherein they had to design and build a two
storey structure that can withstand maximum earthquake acceleration and
show minimum inter-storey drift. The building had to incorporate
advanced earthquake resistant techniques like cross bracings, base
isolation, tuned mass damper etc.
