Musical Concert at Sahyadri in association with SPIC MACAY

In association with SPIC MACAY, Mangalore Chapter, Pt. Pushparaj Koshti
gave a Sitar and Surbahar Musical Concert in Sahyadri, mesmerizing the
audience with his musical flavour and unique creativity in the art. The
future musicians of Sahyadri were deeply touched by the soothing rhythm
and the audience greatly appreciated the concert and the finesse of the
sitar & Sur Bahar.
Pt. Pushparaj Koshti is a renowned player of Sitar and the Surbahar and a
leading exponent of the Dhrupad style. His first Sitar teacher was his
father, the Late. Ramlal Koshti. Pt. Pushparaj Koshti is an A grade
artist of All India Radio and has appeared throughout India and across
Europe, including a stint as a teacher at the Rotterdam Conservatory,
the continent's leading institution in the field of World Music
Education. He was accompanied by Vid. Vivekanand Karungale on Tabla.
SPIC MACAY is an affirmation of the need to conserve and promote an
awareness of the rich cultural tapestry of India among the youth,
through focus on the classical arts with its rituals, mythology and
philosophy and to facilitate an appreciation of their deeper values. The
movement is educational in spirit and character and locates itself in
educational institutions.
