AICTE Sponsored One-Week STTP on “Innovative Approaches in Teaching Pedagogy”

Day Four (3rd June 2021):
Mr. Johnson Tellis, CEO – Technical Career Education
First session was facilitated by Mr. Johnson Tellis, CEO – Technical Career Education on “Hands-On Lab”. He is a B.E and MS in Neural Networks from Moscow Institute of Physics & Technology, Moscow, Russia. He is a Governing Council Member of Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management and one amongst 5 Start-Up ambassadors for AICTE, Govt. of India.
Mr. Johnson Tellis assigned the participants to Breakout rooms and conducted Brainstorming Session on “Online Teaching Techniques” using MIRO Board. He also shared insights on CANVA which can be an effective tool for Faculty in doing Presentations, Posters, Invitations and so on.
Ms. Pavani, Associate Head Training - Tech Mahindra Pvt Ltd
Second session was conducted by Ms. Pavani, Associate Head Training - Tech Mahindra Pvt Ltd on “Audio-Visual Based Teaching”. She is a PGDBM in Advertising and Marketing Communication. She has 10 plus years of experience in ITES, India. She has handled pre and post-training (Soft skills - Voice Training for UK, US, CAN, ANZ and India accounts).
Ms. Pavani ran through various platforms that enhance teaching content. She referred to various tools available like Toonly, Animaker, Epiplex, Creat Studio and so on. She also threw light on the Learning types and introduction of Training methods according to the learner types.
Dr. Pratima Khandelwal, Lead Facilitator – Pedagogy for HEIs & Soft Skills Trainer – NPTEL, IIT Madras
Third session was facilitated by Dr. Pratima Khandelwal, Lead Facilitator – Pedagogy for HEIs & Soft Skills Trainer – NPTEL, IIT Madras on the topic “Flip Method of Teaching”. She holds a Ph.D in Food Technology and Process & Food Engineering. She has contributed in FDPs organized by Infosys Campus Connect-InfyTQ, BITS Pilani, and Biocon Academy. She has been a lead speaker for AICTE-ATAL & ISTE based FDPs in states of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
Dr. Pratima enlightened the participants on upside down teaching approach using video lecture where the students get gradually involved in participative learning. Standard Inverted classroom, discussion oriented flipped classroom, demonstration oriented flipping, group based flipping, Virtual flipped classroom and double flipped classroom were some new methods of flipped teaching.
Dr. Sanjay K Deshpande, KLS IMER, Belagavi
Last session of the day was carried out by Dr. Sanjay K Deshpande, KLS IMER, Belagavi on the topic - “Lessons through Great Epics of India”. He is a MBA in HR and has got his PhD in Management from VTU Belagavi. He is also a Course Content Developer and Course faculty for ISTD-PG Diploma, New Delhi.
Dr. Sanjay K Deshpande in his session tried decoding the great Indian Epics like Mahabharatha and Ramayana and established relevance of each instances and characters to the corporate events and the developments in life. He started with Organization Structure in Kuru Dynasty and went on to relate Lord Hanuman’s motivation to carry Sanjeev Parvath which was rich with medicinal herbs, and hence the significance of respect to be shown to nature around. He established connection between Kurukshethra war and the personal dilemmas and emotions. He emphasized the importance of a mentor in one’s life just like how Krishna was to Arjuna. Towards the end with an example of Shakuni, he told about the evil influencers in life and the impact that they can have on our lives.
