AICTE Sponsored One-Week STTP on “Innovative Approaches in Teaching Pedagogy”

Day Two (1st June 2021):
Dr. Bijuna C Mohan, Assistant Professor, School of Management, NITK, Suratkal
First session was carried out by Dr. Bijuna C Mohan, Assistant Professor, School of Management, NITK, Suratkal on the topic - “Activity Based Teaching”. She has over 6 years of experience in the industry and over 17 years of teaching experience. She has received the ABP News National B-School Award for Best Professor in Teaching Advertising Management.
Dr. Bijuna C Mohan gave a demo on how Breakout Rooms can be used in ZOOM and Microsoft Teams. She also spoke about Quick Write, Clicker Questions, Debate and Jigsaw which can be used as effective tools to engage students.
Mr. Renjit Ravi Keshav, CEO of iSkew Learning
Second Session was facilitated by Mr. Renjit Ravi Keshav, CEO of iSkew Learning on the topic - “Creative Pedagogy/Crossover Learning”. He has done PGDHRM from Symbiosis Institute of Management, Pune. He also holds academic certifications in Faculty Development for Management Education from IIM, Calicut. He won the National Award for Leadership in Education – 2017 from 24 MRC, New Delhi.
Mr. Renjit emphasized on being a Great Teacher Vs. Best Teacher as well as Andragogy over Pedagogy. He introduced the concept of Genius Hour and encouraged to drive Servant Leadership among students.
Ms. Preetham Kamath, Freelance Consultant – Counselling Psychology
Third Session was taken by Ms. Preetham Kamath, Freelance Consultant – Counselling Psychology on the topic - “Emotional Intelligence”. She has done her LLB and M.Sc in Counselling Psychology. She has worked as a Trainer in Infosys for a period of 6 years. She is a faculty at ICAI (Chartered Accountants Institute of India).
Ms. Preetham Kamath conducted an Emotional Intelligence Quotient Test and discussed the EQ level of the participants. She urged the faculty to prepare students on – “What was the toughest situation you faced in life and how did you overcome the phase”.
Mr. Ramani Venkat, NLP Coach and Strategic Sales Consultant
The last session of the day was by Mr. Ramani Venkat, NLP Coach and Strategic Sales Consultant on the topic - “Gamifying Class/ Puzzles and Games. He is a B. E in Electronics and Telecommunications and a Masters in Marketing Management with 26 plus Years of Experience in top MNCs at Senior Management positions.
Mr. Ramani Venkat through games and puzzles brought out the ways through which faculty can make students think and put their creative hats on. He emphasized on the importance of networking skills as well as extended support to faculty in order to develop their own games for any subject of their choice.
