An Induction Programme for the new entrants to the MBA course for the year 2015-17 was conducted in the Campus.Dr. A P Achar, Director, Department of Business Administration welcoming the students told them that they had chosen the right course to excel in their career. He also emphasized that they should start behaving like managers in their daily routine in order to emerge as successful managers. He clarified that the MBA programme has gained importance in the last few years as there is a gap between education and employment which should be bridged by employability skills which will be trained through an MBA program.

The Chief Guest Mr. Shreevatsa S, CEO, Specvin Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Mysore shared effective tips on how the students should groom themselves in the two years to a level that is expected by corporate organisations. During his session he stimulated students to spend more time in the library studying management books, Harvard Business case studies, and motivational books and reading business newspapers. He also highlighted that students should set a SMART long and short term goal in the stream they are passionate about. Dr. Umesh M Bhushi, Principal in his presidential address, urged students to develop the right attitude as the corporate industries are keen to acquire students with such an attitude even if they are with average intelligence. He has encouraged the students to exhibit professionalism in every second of their life at Sahyadri and to be role models and lead the engineering students. Dr. Vishal Samartha, Professor, Department of Business Administration, gave an insight about the Sahyadri MBA program and also introduced the core faculty members of the department.

Session 1 of day-2 of the Induction Programme for the new entrants to the MBA course 2015-2017 was delivered by Mr. Prabodh Sirur, Vice President - HR, Manipal Technologies Pvt. Ltd. He spoke on "Preparing the students for the Corporate Journey". He encouraged students to identify what success and happiness means to them as the definition is different for every individual. He shared the success story of eminent personalities and stimulated the students to develop competencies such as legal skills, two-way communication skills, negotiation skills, decision making skills, etc. .

Students were provoked to put on their thinking caps to suggest the ideal solution to a case study on management he shared with them. He stressed on the need to be different from others in this competitive era. He also explained to the students that they are in their transformation phase and they have to be extraordinary to be successful. He concluded by stating that every individual should plan to succeed, prepare to succeed and expect to succeed. Session 2 was delivered by Mr. Ravish Kumar, Regional Manager, HDFC Bank. He gave an insight into the various opportunities open to MBA graduates in the finance and banking domain. He highlighted that there is huge talent acquisition in e-commerce companies and hence students should thoroughly do a SWOT analysis at the beginning of the course which shall place them in the stream they are passionate about. He encouraged students to go for 'Start-Ups' by narrating success stories of entrepreneurs. He concluded by motivating the students to dream and work towards their dream Session 3 was conducted by Mr. Abhijit, Managing Partner & Marketing Head, VIBRANT MINDS on "Personality Development for Professional Excellence". This session was activity based which not only imparted management lessons but also contributed to the personal grooming of the new entrants and made them acquainted to public speaking and interpersonal communication which is critical to any management trainee.

On the third and final day of the Induction programme for the new entrants to the MBA course 2015-17, the first session was engaged by Mr. Ramani Venkat, Director- Sales, Vanaaz Solutions, Bangalore. His session was a participatory learning process in which concepts such as self-discovery, attitude & ego management, goal setting and team building were included. Ms. Rashmi Bhandary, Placement Head, addressed the students in the second session of the day on the importance of pursuing additional internships and also stimulated the students to take up part-time jobs that would enhance their employability at the end of the MBA course. They were informed about the benchmark of semester marks expected by the hiring companies. . .

Prof. Radhakrishna, MGM College, Udupi, addressing the students in the third session encouraged the students to take this course as a transformational course. Change is the need of the hour and they should be ready to face any challenge in life which in turn is an opportunity to innovate and excel in life as well as career.
