A Vibrant Four-Day Winter Camp was held for Young Kids and Teens at Sahyadri

DTI Labz Private Limited, a Sahyadri Start-up organized a Winter Camp for kids and teens aged 8 to 16 years, at the campus during 27th to 30 Dec’19.

The Camp focused on making young change-makers, orators, problem solvers, creative thinkers and prolific minds essential for the rapidly growing technological world. Around 39 students participated and got absorbed into the camp ambience thus becoming enthusiastic campers.

Day 1 focused on Communication and Collaborative Skills. The campers were given ideas on how to write a storyboard that can be communicated to an audience. This was followed by a theatrical session which aimed at making the campers understand the importance of non-verbal communication.

On Day 2 the focus was on Finance and Scientific Literacy. The day started off with team building activities. The purpose was to understand team bonding. This was followed by a "Make your own Restaurant" activity aimed at teaching business functions to the campers by managing their own finance.

Parallel sessions on Gaming, Electronics, Automobiles, and Aeromodelling were conducted in the afternoon. Social Innovation and Ideation Session was conducted on Day 3, which focused on sensitizing the campers to the problems prevailing in their local regions, and building creative solutions.

Post this; the campers were taken on a field trip to State Bank, Mangaluru, to identify social problems. Thereafter, the campers had a brainstorming session to curative their ideas. The day ended with a 60-Second Pitch to other participants and parents.

The last day i.e. Day 4 of the Winter Camp focused on Rapid Prototyping and Presentation. The campers were able to build their ideas in a span of 3 hours under the guidance of the mentors. The post-lunch session began with a magic show by two young campers. This was followed by project presentation and a campus tour, which the campers thoroughly enjoyed.

Finally, the Winter Camp was brought to a conclusion with a Valedictory Programme.

At the end of the Camp the students indulgently expressed that it was an experience of exploring beyond limits and helping them reach greater heights.
