MBAs present the State Budget 2017-18

The Department of Business Administration organized a presentation and
discussion of State Budget 2017-18 at campus. Three Groups comprising of
eleven students presented on three themes viz (a) Health, Education
and other welfare programmes (b) Infrastructure and Industrial
Development Programmes (c) Agriculture and Rural Development programmes
that were proposed in the State Budget presented by Honorable Chief
Minister Shri. Siddaramaiah on the 15th of March 2017. The
presentation by the students was followed by questions to the
participating teams by the two Resource Persons, Dr. Savitha, Professor,
School of Management Manipal University and Prof. Hariprasad Shetty
from Government First Grade College Vamadapadavu, Bantwal.
Dr. Savitha, expressed her critical views on budget stating that, though
some of the programmes proposed in the budget for health, education,
infrastructure and industrial development are laudable, there is no
sincere effort in the budget to enhance the revenue of the State.
Prof. Hariprasad Shetty, in his address stated that with the abolition
of planning commission and finance commission, State government have a
key role to play in health, education, agriculture and rural
development. While critically commenting on the programmes proposed for
the development of agriculture and rural development he said that the
issue of sustainability is not addressed in the budget.
Students of MBA actively participated in the question and answer session.
