Pulsed Laser Deposition System has been installed

The PLD system manufacturer Mr. Subhash Pai, CTO, Excel Instruments and
Mr. Sumesh Kumar, Engineer from Pfeiffer vacuum have carried out the
installation and trial PLD runs have been taken. Compex PRO 201 Excimer
laser was used as an energy source for thin film deposition. Prof.
Richard Pinto, Director-CENT and Sahyadri research team were present
during the installation. It is also important to mention that Compex PRO
201 Excimer laser was purchased last year from Coherent GmbH, Germany
with kind support provided by the Management. Pulsed Laser Deposition is
a powerful technique for the growth of thin films of multi-component
complex materials. This system will act as a vital tool at CENT to make
rapid progress in the direction of growth of high quality
Nano-materials, thin films and devices such as gas sensors, especially
in collaboration with other institutions and industry partners.
