AICTE-ISTE National Refresher Programme organized by Dept. of Mechanical Engineering

The second session on 25th March’2021 of AICTE-ISTE sponsored Online Refresher program – Phase 1 (25th–31st March 2021) on “Cooperative And Collaborative Teaching Learning Processes” was engaged by Dr. Vijaya Kumari S.N, Associate Professor of Education, PG Studies and Research in Education, St. Ann’s College of Education, Mangaluru. She is a Doctorate in Education from SNDT Women’s University Mumbai and has been awarded the Jamunabhai Gobindji Madhabji award for her Ph.D study. She facilitated a session on “Cooperative and Collaborative Learning: Constructivist Pedagogies to develop 21st Century Skills”.
Third session was engaged by Prof. T N Nagabhushan, who completed his ME and Ph.D from IISc. He has 37 years of teaching, research and industry experience. He is a Visiting Professor at Korea University Seoul and is also a visiting Professor at Hannan University Osaka, Japan. He has delivered talks at Georgia State University, Atlanta, USA and at Durban University, South Africa. He spoke on “Introduction to Blended Learning and Its Practice”. In his presentation, he emphasized on Team approach, Flipped classroom, Station rotation & Lab rotation. He conveyed that, having practice of all this in the teaching process will result in increased student engagement in learning, enhanced teacher and student interaction and responsibility for learning with time management.
Fourth session was engaged by Dr. Janardhanan Gangathulasi, Associate Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Head of Centre for International Affairs and Centre for Curriculum Development, Planning and Coordination at the National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research, Chennai. Dr. Janardhanan has over 18 years of research, teaching and consulting experience within the broad fields of civil, environmental engineering and engineering education. He facilitated the session on “Technology enabled teaching learning: NEP 2020 Perspective”. He mentioned that Technology-enabled learning aims to focus on increasing access to quality teaching and learning by supporting policy formulation and innovation in the application of ICT in education, and the development of ICT skills.
Day Three (27th March’2021 – Afternoon Session)
The Third session of the day was engaged by Dr. Mandeep Kaur Kochar. At present, she is an Associate Professor and is designated as Vice-Principal, University affairs HSNC University, Mumbai and is the member of Syndicate of the University. She is a Recognized Research Guide for Ph.D with “Pacific Academy of Higher Education and Research” Pacific University, Udaipur & University of Mumbai. She is a Ph.D in Adult Education, M.Phil, M.A in Economics and also an M.Ed. She spoke on “Enhancing Emotional Intelligence through Cooperative and Collaborative Strategies”
The Fourth session was engaged by Prof. Parmod Kumar Singla. He is a BE in Civil from Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Patiala and Masters of Engineering in Irrigation and Hydraulics from Punjab Engineering College.
He is presently working as Faculty In-Charge Administration and Associate Professor for the past 36 years at National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research, Chandigarh. He facilitated a session on “Human Values in Cooperative Learning”
Day Four (29th March’2021)
The first session of the day was engaged by Dr. Pooja Birwatkar, Post Doctorate in Education from Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education. She holds a Ph.D degree in Education and is a Gold Medalist at the Post Graduate level. She is currently working as an Assistant Professor in K J Somaiya College of Education, Somaiya Vidyavihar University, Mumbai. She conducted the session on “Dialogues, Argumentations and Design thinking in Collaborative Learning Spaces”. During her presentation, she stressed on the importance of using argumentation as pedagogy, the power of strategic pauses into class lectures, project-based learning, experiential learning, problem-based learning and Inquiry learning.
Second session of the day was engaged by Dr. Sunil Dutt, Professor & Head, Education & Educational Management Department, National Institute of Technical Teachers Training & Research. Dr. Sunil Dutt, holds M.Sc. (Hons.) Chemistry, M.Ed and Ph.D. in Education (All from Panjab University, Chandigarh). He joined National Institute of Technical Teachers Training & Research, Chandigarh in November, 1992. He spoke on “Student Evaluation”. During his presentation, he explained what is Evaluation & types of Evaluation - Summative evaluation, Placement Evaluation, Evaluation Process & Basic Principles of Evaluation.
Third session was engaged by Dr. Ravichandra K R, Professor and Head of Dept. of Mechanical Engineering at Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management. He is also handling additional responsibility as Dean- Industry Connect and Head of Autonomous Working Committee. The session engaged was on “Simulation tools for interactive assignments”. In his presentation, he brought out the difference between Traditional Method of Education & Outcome Based Education, Student Centric Education, and Competency in Graduates of Higher Education & Bloom's Taxonomy.
Fourth session was engaged by Dr. S. Srikanta Swamy, an Academic Consultant in the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), NAAC. He has brought out publications such as State-wise Analysis of Accreditation Reports, Trend Analysis Reports, and Analysis of Annual Quality Assurance Reports using the Accreditation reports submitted to NAAC, involving both Internal and external experts. He facilitated the session on “Blended Learning in CCL”.
