Three-Day Verbal Communication Training for MBA Students

A Three-Day “Verbal Communication Training” for the MBA students was organized by Dept. of Business Administration during 28th to 30th Dec, 2020.
Two parallel sessions were held by two different Trainers – Ms. Pavani Karthikeyan and Mr. Justin Jesudas, Freelance Trainers from Hyderabad. Students were categorized as A, B and C Category on the basis of their Verbal Communication and accordingly the sessions were held to suit their needs.
Pre-assessment was carried out through Voice & Speech Assessment based on the 3-minute audio files sent to the Trainers. The scores were tracked in order to see their growth and its impact after the training.
During the Day One, students had to give their introduction by using an Adjective that best describes them. Later, students took a chance to know more about the trainer by asking questions. They had sessions with demonstrations related to Body Posture and how to dress for an interview. They were also introduced to the various types of questions asked during an interview and how to handle situations. Certain attributes were highlighted and students had to frame sentences and connect them to enhance their flow of thought.
During the Day Two, the Trainer probed for any problems related to communication that the students had - MTI, Vocabulary, Grammar and Pronunciation. Practice session on Pronunciation was held - Short Vowels, Long Vowels and Controllable Sounds. Later, the Trainers engaged students through Role Play on Interview between the two and students had to highlight their key takeaways from it.
During the Day Three, Pronunciation practice session to overcome MTI was held. Finally, Trainers conducted Mock Interview by interchanging their roles with the students as Interviewer and Interviewee.
What made this training unique were the various Assessments that the students went through during the course of the training - Grammar Assessment and Language Assessment, Voice and Speech Assessment and Post Training Assessment where the students had to send their Audio files containing answers to five interview questions.
