SAHYADRI WHIZQUIZ 2015 GRAND FINALE INAUGURAL FUNCTION

The Department of Business Administration, Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management held the grand finale of `Sahyadri WhizQuiz’; a quiz competition for under-graduate students of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi Districts in the Campus. This mega event, the brainchild of Dr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman, Sahyadri Group of Institutions, was conducted with an objective of motivating the youth to update themselves with the latest developments in the areas of Business, Political System, Marketing, Human resource, Finance and Indian Economy. said that an incredible effort has gone into organizing this program. The human brain has the capacity to process millions of facts, but we rarely utilise this potential. The real wealth lies in our ideas and not in wallets. This effort of holding the WhizQuiz at Sahyadri is to bring those ideas out. He congratulated Dr. Manjunath Bhandary, the Chairman of the Sahyadri Group of Institutions for bringing together this big crowd of young and energetic future builders of the nation. Principal Dr. Umesh M. Bhushi spoke about the milestones achieved by the institute over the years. Dr. Vishal Samartha, Professor in the Department of Business Administration highlighted the achievements and accomplishments of the MBA Department. Director of the Department of Business Administration Dr. A. P. Achar welcomed the gathering. The Quiz Master for the event, Mr. Rakshith Shetty spearheaded the quiz event by providing important guidelines to the participants. The event witnessed about 200 teams with 600 students from degree colleges of Mangalore, Bantwal, Puttur, Surathkal, Subramanya, Belthangady, Udupi participating in this mega event. Ninety teams qualified for the second round in the first preliminary round of which six teams qualified for the final round of the quiz to be held later in the day.

SAHYADRI WHIZQUIZ 2015 VALEDICTORY AND PRIZE DISTRIBUTION CEREMONY

The Department of Business Administration, Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management organised the grand finale of the “Sahyadri WhizQuiz”; a quiz competition for under-graduate students of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi Districts in the Sahyadri Campus. The event witnessed about 200 teams with 600 students from degree colleges of Mangalore, Bantwal, Puttur, Surathkal, Subramanya, Belthangady, Udupi participating in this mega event. Ninety teams qualified for the second round in the first preliminary round of which six teams qualified for the final round of the quiz after two preliminary rounds of elimination. The First place with a cash

prize of Rs. 25,000/- was bagged by Akshay Nayak, Clafton and Ashwan Loy of St. Aloysius College, Mangalore. The Second place with a cash prize of Rs. 15,000/- was also bagged by Prathvi Bhandary, Gubin Moidu and Ashish K. of St. Aloysius College, Mangalore and the Third place with a cash prize of Rs. 10,000/- went to Sanjith Shenoy, Shamsheer and Manjunath of Canara College, Mangalore.

CHAIRMAN ADDRESSES PARTICIPANTS OF SAHYADRI WHIZQUIZ

Post-lunch, Dr. Manjunath Bhandary, the Chairman of Sahyadri Group of Educational Institutions addressed the young participants of Sahyadri WhizQuiz . He said that a successful education comes with quality. Though Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management is a budding institute, he has always encouraged his faculty members to focus on quality and value education. He also said that the intention here was to develop a good relationship with neighboring colleges and he has wholeheartedly opened the doors of the institute for seeking any kind of guidance to the students for their higher education. Dr. Manjunath Bhandary also expressed his thanks to the student fraternity and the faculty members from various colleges for their participation and support.

PANEL DISCUSSION ON `CAREER PATH FOR GRADUATES’ DURING SAHYADRI WHIZQUIZ

A panel discussion on “Career Path for Graduates” where experts from corporate were invited to guide the students to select the right career path after graduation was held in the Campus. Ms. Shipra Rai, Manager, Graduate Hiring & Learning, MPhasis an HP Company, Mr. M. Jeba Kumar, Director- HR & Legal Services, Merit Matters and Ms. Vidya Shenoy, Asst. Manager-HR, Manipal Technologies, Manipal were the members of the panel. It was learnt from the discussion that, at present, there is a great need for quality institutes that provide higher education that make youth industry-ready. Education is what we make of it; no doubt, it gives us a platform to polish our abilities and competencies. Students aspiring for higher education must keep their perspectives straight and right.
