Mr. AnanthPrabhu G Successfully Defends his Doctoral Thesis 

Mr. AnanthPrabhu G, Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering successfully defended his PhD thesis titled “Performance Improvement of Smith Waterman Algorithm using Parallel Processing”. He has also published 3 international journals and 2 international papers. He registered for his doctoral studies in 2011 at VTU under the able guidance of Dr. Ganesh Aithal. The management and staff of Sahyadri congratulate him and wish him well in his endeavors.

Student projects selected for Unisys Cloud 20/20

  • Ms. Sushmitha B, Ms. Saishree K Naik, Ms.Swathi and Ms.Vidyashree students of Semester VIII, Computer Science & Engineering, with their project titled “Online Bidding System For Resource Allocation In Cloud” have made their entry into the All India level Unisys Cloud 20/20 student technical project contest version 7.0 under the guidance of Mrs. Ronnie Merin George, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science& Engineering.
  • Ms. PoojaNaik , Ms. JyothiManju Gouda and Ms. Pooja S students of Semester VIII, Computer Science& Engineering ,with project titled “Monitoring And Live Migration Of Virtual Machines Using Open Source For Efficient Resource Utilization” have made their entry into the All India level Unisys Cloud 20/20 student technical project contest version 7.0 under the guidance of Mr. Harisha, Assistant professor, Department of Computer Science & Engineering.

    Cloud 20/20 Version 7.0 is India’s biggest online technical project contest which gives the platform to showcase student’s innovative and path-breaking technical ideas and take them to the next level. Through Cloud 20/20 Version 7.0, Unisys aspires to reach out to the leading engineering campus all over in India and discover the finest technical talent.

Pooja Selected to Head and Facilitate Google’s Applied CS for Android Program

Putting Sahyadri permanently on the radar of Google, Pooja, Semester VI, computer science & engineering has been selected as the facilitator for the "Applied CS for Android Program" in limited number of campuses in India. Pooja will be heading the program, which will run parallel to the Google Student Ambassador Program scheduled to start next year. She has cleared two rounds of selection (application round and YouTube round) and will now attend a boot camp in Google’s Office at Bangalore on the 5th and 6th of March, 2016.

The "Applied Science for Android" Program will enable students to adopt the algorithms used by engineers at Google and help them develop their technical abilities.

Faculty Member Attends Winter School on Speech and Audio Processing

Mr. ManjunathMulimani, Assistant Professor, Department of ComputerScience & Engineering participated in the "Winter School on Speech and Audio Processing (WiSSAP)-2016" organised by SSN College of Engineering, Chennai. WiSSAP-2016 highlighted the concept of "Speech Prosody". WiSSAP-2016 provided a forum for students, researchers and professionals to enhance their knowledge in speech and audio signal processing.

Ramasubramanian, PESIT, Bangalore, Prof. PriyankooSarmah, IIT, Guwahati and Dr. Kalika Bali, Microsoft Research Lab, Bangalore were the resource persons.

Silver Partner Recognition for Faculty Member by Infosys 

Mrs. Mehanaz Begum, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, has been recognized as the `Silver Partner Faculty’ under Inspire – The Campus Connect Faculty Partnership Model by the Campus Connect team, Education, Training and Assessment, Infosys Limited, Mangaluru. She was felicitated during the Inspire Excellence award event at the Infosys office in Mangaluru. During the Inspire Excellence award event, an event called Content Guru was held. Mrs. Mehanaz Begum, and Mrs. Sadhana, Assistant Professors, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, actively participated in the event. They had to submit any artifacts which they had created and deployed in order to enhance the course delivery and the student learning effectiveness for all the Campus Connect Partnered colleges who had been selected by the Infosys jury.

Faculty Member Appointed IT Advisor to VTU

Dr. AnanthPrabhu G., Associate Professor, Department of ComputerScience & Engineering has been appointed as the IT Advisor to Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi, on an honorary basis for one year.

Faculty Members Paper Published at IMCIC-2016, USA

A research paper entitled "A Novel Approach for Performance Improvement in Parallel Processing" by Dr. AnanthPrabhu, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science& Engineering has been published in the pre-conference proceedings of the Special Session "Frontiers in Development of Intelligent Applications for Medical Image Processing, Computer Vision and Soft Computing" at the 7th International Multi-Conference on Complexity, Informatics and Cybernetics (IMCIC-2016), Orlando, Florida, USA.

Alumni and Faculty Member’s Paper Published in Springer International

A Research Paper titled "NEBULA: Deployment of cloud using open source" authored by Anjali Bhandary, AshwiniRai, Nagadeeksha, and Jayashree of the 2014 batch of students of the Department ofComputer Science & Engineering and Mr. ManjunathMulimani, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science & Engineering has been published in Springer Publishing as part of the proceedings of the international conference on soft computing systems.
