BOAT & DTE in collaboration with Sahyadri organize an Apprenticeship Fair

Board of Apprenticeship Training (SR), Chennai & Directorate of Technical Education, Bengaluru in collaboration with Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management organized an Apprenticeship Fair for Engineering Graduates/Diploma/General Graduates in Sahyadri Campus which saw participation from Seven Hundred students of Karnataka. Mr. B Jayaraj, Deputy Director Planning, DTE, Mr. Shridhar Narayani H, FDA, DTE & Mr. M Suresh Kumar, Assistant Director, BOAT were the guests for the Inaugural Ceremony along with Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman & Dr. Umesh M Bhushi, Principal. Ltd., Mysuru • ITI Ltd Bengaluru • HICAL Technologies • VRV Embassy • TAFE (Plastic & Tool Room Division), Bengaluru • JBM • Aptra Technologies, Sahyadri Campus, Mangaluru • RDL Technologies Pvt Ltd, Sahyadri Campus, Mangaluru • Dreamers, Sahyadri Campus, Mangaluru During the Inaugural Ceremony, Dr. Umesh M Bhushi, Principal welcomed the gathering and encouraged the participants to enjoy their profession (once selected) which shall enhance their productivity. Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman while addressing the gathering highlighted that the students only study during their course of education, however fail to learn hence they face challenges in getting absorbed by Corporate Houses. He appreciated the Government of India for providing opportunities to students through Apprenticeship Training which imparts learning the core concepts before being employed. He re-iterated that if one learns while studying then the job opportunities are plenty hence this Apprenticeship fair shall bridge the gap and provide right fitment to industries. He urged the participants to develop interest, commitment, involvement & discipline in whatever job has been assigned. He also emphasised on the growing trend for SMART Skills which is the need of the hour and should be developed within. Mr. B Jayaraj, Deputy Director Planning, DTE while speaking to the participants referred to Sahyadri as the “Temple for Learning”. He appreciated the enthusiasm & cooperation from the Management of Sahyadri and hence selected this institution as the venue for the Fair. He urged the participants to take up Competitive exams and also pursue post graduation while working. He said they are now the Raw Materials which in 4 to 5 years shall turn into jewels or diamonds. He also mentioned about the Government of India Scholarship to pursue higher education in Foreign universities. Mr. M Suresh Kumar, Assistant Director, BOAT while addressing the students appreciated Sahyadri for its social responsibility towards students. He also referred to the industries & corporate house as pillars of BOAT who participated in the Apprenticeship Fair. It was encouraging to learn that last year 9900 Apprentices were selected and trained and Karnataka pays higher Stipend in comparison to other states. He encouraged the participants to visit the BOAT website as all communication related to Apprenticeship are Open and Transparent. He brought out the benefits of Apprenticeship Training which includes Skill Development, Bridging gap between theory & practice, Platform to enter corporate houses. He re-iterated that a Government of India Certificate will be issued to the selects after completing one year of Apprenticeship Training. Apart from the guests, the HR Professionals who participated in the Apprenticeship Fair also shared their expectations from the candidates. Students also volunteered to share their opinion about the initiative of organizing the Apprenticeship Fair at Sahyadri.
