69th Independence Day Celebration at Sahyadri - 2015

The 69th anniversary of our Independence Day was celebrated with joy and pride by the staff and students of the Sahyadri Educational Institutions. Mr. Sharath K. Shetty, Managing Director and Co-founder, Telenetix Private Limited, the Chief Guest, hoisted the national flag after which the gathered students, faculty members and the staff sang the national anthem with pride in their hearts.

Mr. Sharath Shetty in his 69th Independence Day Speech said that the celebrations on this day, took him back to his NCC days when he used to proudly take part in the March Past on Brigade Road in Bangalore in front of the Governor and a huge crowd. He was proud to see the students, staff and management celebrating the Independence Day with such pride.

Mr. Sharath K. Shetty is a B.E. in Electronics & Communications from BIT, Bangalore and MBA from Edinburgh Business School, UK. In a career that spans over two decades, Mr. Shetty has mostly worked on leading edge technologies, researching and developing niche products in computer telephony and healthcare. He is still an active C++ programmer and believes in combining strong technical knowledge with domain knowledge, to deliver the best possible solution to his customers.

 The programme concluded with a rendition of ‘Vande Mataram’. The Principals of Sahyadri Educational Institutions, the teaching and non teaching staff and students were present. The achievers in NSS, NCC and sports were honoured by the Chief Guest. Sweets were distributed on the occasion to recall the elation felt by every Indian at the stroke of midnight on 15 August 1947.

After the hoisting of the national flag, the students and staff showcased their talent in a cultural programme on the Independence Day celebrations in the Campus. Mime, dance, solo and group singing were performed by staff and students. 


68th Independence Day Celebration at Sahyadri - 2014

The 68th anniversary of our Independence Day was celebrated with joy and pride by the staff and students of the Sahyadri Educational Institutions. Col. Nitteguttu Sharath Bhandary, the Chief Guest hoisted the national flag after which the gathered students, faculty members and the staff sang the national anthem with pride in their hearts.

Col. Nitteguttu Sharath Bhandary in his 68th Independence Day speech, called upon the young generation to practice little acts of patriotism by caring for the environment, wild life, elderly people, etc. in everyday life.   He said that these are some of the various ways in which a person’s patriotism to the country will shine through.  He rekindled in the present generation patriotism of the country with a call to build a powerful nation.  His witty and inspiring speech tickled the funny bone in the rapt audience listening to his speech which will long be remembered by everyone present on this 68th Independence Day celebrations.  Col. Bhandary during his speech asked very pertinent question to the students on, which are the other countries celebrating Independence on the same day as India, which is the national aquatic animal of the country and why was India given Independence on the 15th of August 1947 and not in June of 1948 as was previously agreed by the leaders negotiating the date of freedom at that point of time.  Two of the Mechanical Engineering students answered two of these questions and Rs. 500/- each was given to them by Col. Bhandary as prizes for correct answers.

Col. Bhandary was commissioned into the Indian Army in February of 1964. He retired in the March of 1993. During these thirty-one years, he has served in the North East Frontier Agency, Central Air Command, Allahabad, Signal Training Centre in Goa & Secunderabad, DGWE, Army HQ, New Delhi and Jammu & Kashmir. He has also served in Military Intelligence in Meghalaya & Punjab. He is a B.Tech., MIE and has a Diploma in Business Management. Currently, he is a member of the Permanent Lok Adalat, Mangalore, President of the Regional Rubber Planters’ Association, President of Dakshina Kannada District Ex-Servicemen Association, Mangalore, Trustee, Vision Charitable Trust, Sullia and Convener, Patriotism Lions District for Dakshina Kannada, Kodagu, Hassan and Chikmagalur districts.

The programme concluded with a rendition of ‘Vande Mataram’. The Principals of Sahyadri Educational Institutions, the teaching and non teaching staff and students were present. The sports achievers were honoured during the cultural programme organized by the students, faculty members, and the staff. Sweets were distributed on this occasion to recall the elation felt by every Indian at the stroke of midnight on 15 August 1947.

Sahyadri Celebrates India’s Independence Day with a  Culture Programme

In a scintillating showcase of talent, the staff and students gave a mind-blowing cultural performance on the Independence Day celebrations held in the Campus. Mime, dance, solo and group singing were performed by staff and students.

The faculty members of the Department of Computer Science & Engineering won the First prize in the Variety Competition and the Department of Business Administration was the runner-up. It was a day filled with elation and bonhomie among the gathering on the 68th anniversary of the Independence Day celebrations.

67th Independence Day Celebration at Sahyadri - 2013

The 67th anniversary of our Independence Day was  celebrated with joy and pride by the staff and students of the Sahyadri  Institutions. Dr. U. M. Bhushi, Principal, Sahyadri College of Engineering  & Management, hoisted the national flag after which the gathered students,  faculty members and the staff sang the national anthem with pride in their hearts. Dr. U. M. Bhushi, in his address called upon every person present to be  a true Indian.  In his inspiring speech,  he gave living examples of how to be a true Indian in every sphere of one’s  live.  He said that one should never be an  obstacle to another person from living their independence through our actions.  He gave due respect to all the freedom  fighters because of whom today we are able to lift our heads high.  

Mr. Jagannath Chowta, Trustee, Bhandary Foundation was the  Guest of Honour.  In his Independence Day  address to the gathering, he gave a call to the youngsters to build up the  nation as they are the real strength of the country.

 The sports achievers from among the new entrants to  Engineering were honoured during the celebration.  Mrs. Nayana Patil, Associate Professor,  Department of Civil Engineering, compérèd the programme. The programme concluded  with a rendition of ‘Vande Mataram’. A cultural programme was organized by the  students, faculty members, and the staff. 66th Independence Day Celebration at Sahyadri - 2012

The 66th anniversary of our Independence Day was celebrated with joy and pride by the staff and students of the Sahyadri Institutions. Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman, Sahyadri Institutions, hoisted the national flag after which the gathered students, faculty members and the staff sang the national anthem with pride in their hearts. Mr. Bhandary, in his address recalled Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s famous “Tryst with Destiny” speech. He spoke about the aspirations in every Indian and hoped that India continues to develop in heaps and bounds. Ms. Mehanaz Begum, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science & Engineering compared the programme. The programme concluded with a rendition of ‘Vande Mataram’. A cultural programme was organized by the students, faculty members, and the staff. Sweets were distributed on this occasion to recall the elation felt by every Indian at the stroke of midnight on 15 August 1947.
