MBA Faculty invited to deliver a Talk on “Banking & Insurance” at AJ Institute of Management, Mangaluru

Prof. Ramesh K G, Department of Business Administration, invited by AJ Institute of Management, Mangaluru to deliver an Expert Talk on 'Banking & Insurance' to the newly admitted MBA students. The talk covered the topics like Evolution of Banking sector, Legal Framework, Regulatory Aspects, Technology used, Challenges Ahead for Banking Industry, Privatisation of Insurance sector, Principles of Insurance & Risk Management.

 

MBA faculty invited as a resource person for the Annual NSS Camp of Besant Women’s College, Mangaluru

Prof. Ramesh KG, Dept of Business administration was invited as a resource person for the Annual NSS Camp of Besant Women’s College, Mangaluru held at Abbettu, Meramajal, Bantwal Taluk. While addressing the NSS volunteers, he shared his experiences as a NSS volunteer himself during college days and stimulated them to participate in various NSS activities that not only contribute to the personality development but also their holistic development intellectually & behaviorally.

 

MBA Faculty attend Analytics Master Class on BFSI at IIM, Bangalore

MBA faculty members Dr. Vidyavathi K, Prof. Ramesh K G, Prof. Abhay Kumar & Prof. Chandrakanth attended Analytics Master Class on Banking, Financial Services & Insurance organized by Data Centre & Analytics Lab (DCAL) at Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore.

The master class started with a session on 'Credit Risk Analytics' by Prof. M Jayadev, IIMB. Ms. Ranjana Sahajwala, Chief GM & Banking Ombudsman, RBI facilitated a session on 'Perspective use of Data & Analytics in Banking’. Mr. Ashok Dengla & Mr. Rahul Shankar, AVP, HSBC India spoke on 'Application of Analytics in Financial Regulatory Capital Decision Making'. Smt. Harini Padmanabhan, Head, Business Analytics Practice, Envestnet, Yodlee India demonstrated on 'Analytics in FinTech Industry'. Mr. Guruprasad Dasappa, General Manager – Products & Innovation, Accenture Operations enlightened the audience on 'Natural Language Generation (NLG) & Blockchain across Banking & Finance Organizations'. The master class concluded with a panel discussion on 'Influence of Analytics in BFSI'.


MBA faculty chaired a session in an International Conference at SDMIMD, Mysuru Dr. K Vidyavathi, Dept. of Business Administration chaired a Parallel Track Session at the 3rd International Conference on 'Economic Growth & Sustainable Development' in Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD), Mysuru. She also presented a paper titled "Relevance of Deposit Insurance as Safety Net in Banking and Financial Inclusion” which is co-authored by Mr. Mahesh Chandra Alva H, Regional Trainer for South India Region at HDFC Bank. 

MBA Faculty Invited as Resource Persons for a One-Day Workshop at Crossland, Bramhavar

In an age of economic and information technology revolution, expansion of banking and financial sector is irresistible. Coming up with thousands of job opportunities every year, the sector receives lakhs of applications from job seekers pursuing secure and thriving career in the field. Opportunities are immense and challenges are enormous in the prevailing bank job scenario. In order to give more insight on this subject, a One-Day UGC sponsored workshop was organized on “Opportunities & Challenges in Banking Sector” by Crossland College, Bramhavar. Prof. Ramesh K.G, Prof. Girish Madla, Prof. Rashmi Kodikal, Prof. Gayathri Shetty from Dept of Business Administration and Prof. Hyder Ali, from Govt. first grade College, Bantwal were the resource persons for the day-long workshop.

The workshop began with a formal inauguration in the presence of Prof. Samuel. K Samuel, Principal, Crossland College, Brahmavar, Prof. Girish Madla, Dept. of Business Administration - Chief Guest of the workshop, Prof. Elizebeth Roy, HOD of Commerce Department, Crossland College, Brahmavar and Programme Convener Prof. Girish Rao, Crossland College, Brahmavar. The programme had four key sessions followed by a Panel discussion. The resource persons covered a gamut of banking topics like “Evolution of Banking”, “Banking Law - Legal Framework, Credit process, NPA, Priority Sector Lending”, “Nuances of Clearing Operations” and “Digital Banking”. The resource persons highlighted on the various job roles available in the banking sector and explained the challenges and the pre-requisites of the ever changing banking roles. They motivated the students to take up jobs in Banking as this industry had a huge potential to grow in the future and would have several job opportunities to offer in the days to come. Students appreciated the efforts of the resource persons and thanked them for their valuable guidance. The programme was summed with a brief Valedictory Programme. 67 Students from 9 different colleges participated in the workshop.

 

MBA Faculty conduct Placement Workshop at Canara College, Mangaluru

As a community initiative & to contribute to the nation’s talent reservoir, Prof. Ramesh K G & Prof. Sushma V along with students from the Dept. of Business Administration conducted Placement Workshop for the final year degree students of Canara College, Mangaluru in two batches of 150 each. The Workshop focussed on Resume Writing, Group Discussion (GD) Round of Interview & Face to Face Round of Interview.

Students were apprised on the components of a Resume and also the DO’s and DONT’s in a Resume. Few of the resumes were evaluated and feedback was given on how it could be further improvised to suit the needs of the recruiters. Rounds of Group Discussion were held on the current scenarios and feedback was given with tips on how they could enhance their performance in a GD Round of interview. Further, top 10 frequently asked questions in a Face to Face interview were addressed with assistance on how best they could start their preparations to meet the expectations of the recruiter in their final round of interview. The workshop was coordinated by Dr. Prashanth, Head – Career Guidance & Placement Cell, Canara College, Mangaluru. Students have appreciated the workshop and have now approached Sahyadri to conduct Training on MS Office which would be organized at Sahyadri soon.

 

MBA Faculty invited as guests for VIVO College Opening Ceremony in Bengaluru

Prof. Ramesh K G and Prof. Girish Madla, Department of Business Administration were invited as guests for the Vivo College Opening Ceremony (Training Camp) at Bengaluru. The event was organized by Weiwo Communication Pvt Ltd in the intention to show their acknowledgment to College Placement Cell Officer/ Campus recruitment Coordinator and boost the recruited students and also strengthen the relationship for further recruitments.

Weiwo Communication Pvt Ltd had recently hired 10 students of Department of Business Administration in the recruitment drive held at our campus.
